Ta-da! A finished mitt!!

Right hand

This pattern follows the same as the left hand, through step 18. From there, the pattern has changes to put the point on the other side of the mitt:

19. Cast off next 16 sts, Dec, knit 13, Dec

20. Dec, purl 11, Dec (all the decreasing from here on out creates a point that goes over your fingers)

21. Dec, knit 9, Dec

22. Dec, purl 7, Dec

23. Dec, knit 5, Dec

24. Dec, purl 3, Dec

25. Dec, knit 1, Dec

Because a couple people mentioned it, this is the pattern for my "18th Century Mitts". They have a thumb opening and another large opening for the rest of the fingers to go through. I made them using a medium-weight wool yarn - I suggest Patons Classic Wool for something easy to find in a crafting store. Also, you will need a set of 5 double-pointed needles (yes, you need all 5, for the part when you end up with the thumb and the rest of the hand separated.) I used US size 5, or 3.75 mm.

They were made to fit my arms, so the pattern may need to be adjusted if you want a larger/smaller/longer/shorter size (or if you use a different yarn).

I'm not sure how coherent the pattern is... I wrote it down as I worked, so I could make it again, but I'm not sure how much my understanding it was based on my pre-existing notion of the finished product. If you are relatively experienced with knitting, it should probably make sense... I hope :)
